Vietnam Visa for Sri Lankan Citizens

Sri Lankan passport holders need a visa in advance to enter Vietnam. Apply online below.

For Sri Lankan passport holders, Vietnam is an e-visa destination: you need a visa, and the online e-visa from Vietnam's Immigration Department is the simplest one to obtain. Sri Lanka has no exemption arrangement with Vietnam, and the airport offers no true visa on arrival. The e-visa allows up to 90 days, as a single entry for USD 75 or a multiple entry for USD 100 through us, all-in.

What makes it easy is how little you have to provide. Two documents, and nothing else: the data page of your passport and a recent portrait. There is no sponsor letter, no bank statement, no salary certificate, no hotel voucher and no ticket to upload. If anyone asks you for a stack of papers for a tourist e-visa, the stack is not for Vietnam. We do ask a few practical questions — where you will enter and leave, your exit date and your address in Vietnam — because the portal requires them.

The two documents do have to be good. The passport image must show the full data page with its four corners and the two machine-readable lines, and the portrait should be recent, with a white background, no glasses and a straight look at the camera. A person on our team compares both against the portal's rules before filing, so problems are caught before the application is filed. Sri Lankans living in the UAE or elsewhere in the Gulf apply exactly the same way.

Apply two to three weeks before you travel; the visa's 90 days are counted from the issue date, so filing much earlier wastes part of it. Processing is three working days officially, three to five in our promise, and slower around Tet in late January or February. You can enter at any international airport, at 27 land crossings or at the seaports, and children under 14 recorded in a parent's passport are added to that parent's e-visa.

Questions Sri Lankan travellers ask

Do Sri Lankan citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

Yes. Sri Lankan passports are not visa-exempt. The e-visa is the usual route: issued online by Vietnam's Immigration Department, valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry.

What documents do I need?

Only two: your passport data page and a recent portrait on a white background. No bank statement, letter or booking is uploaded for a tourist e-visa.

Can I get a visa on arrival?

No genuine visa on arrival exists in Vietnam. Airport counters only stamp approval letters arranged in advance through a sponsor, so apply for the e-visa before you go.

How far in advance should I apply?

Two to three weeks before travel. The 90 days start on the issue date, and processing takes three to five working days with us, longer around Tet.
