Vietnam Visa for Nepali Citizens

Nepali passport holders need a visa in advance to enter Vietnam. Apply online below.

Requirements last checked: .

Nepali passport holders must have a visa before travelling to Vietnam, and the e-visa is the one most people use. There is no visa-free period for Nepal and no genuine visa on arrival, but Vietnam's Immigration Department issues the e-visa online to every nationality, for a stay of up to 90 days. You choose single entry, USD 75 with us, or multiple entry, USD 100, and both prices are all-in.

Many Nepali travellers live and work in the Gulf, so an application may start in Dubai, Doha, Riyadh or Kuwait City as easily as in Kathmandu. That changes nothing: the e-visa follows the passport, not the country of residence, and the application is identical wherever you file it from. What does matter is getting the two uploads right, because the portal checks them by machine before any officer looks at them.

The portrait must be recent, taken face-on against a white background, with no hat and no glasses, and it must show one person only. The portal compares it with the passport photo and flags a poor match, and it rejects a photo of a photo. The passport scan must show the whole data page, with no corners cut off and both machine-readable lines at the bottom legible — the portal reads those lines and refuses an image without them. We check both before anything is filed.

Then think about dates. The 90 days start on the day the e-visa is issued, so file two to three weeks before departure. Official processing is three working days; our promise is three to five once your documents pass our check, with extra time around Tet in late January or February. Keep 6 months of validity on the passport, as airlines expect it even though the portal itself asks only for 30 days beyond the visa.

Questions Nepali travellers ask

Do Nepali citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

Yes. Nepal is not visa-exempt for Vietnam. The e-visa, issued online for up to 90 days with single or multiple entry, is the standard route, and we prepare and file it for you.

What photo does the portal accept?

A recent face-on portrait with a white background, no hat, no glasses and only you in the frame. The portal matches it against your passport photo automatically, so use a fresh photo rather than a cropped one.

I work in Qatar — can I apply from there?

Yes. Residence makes no difference; Vietnam decides by passport. Nepali residents of Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Kuwait apply with the same two documents.

How long does it take?

Officially three working days. We promise three to five working days after your documents pass our check, and longer around Tet. File two to three weeks before your flight, since the 90 days start on the issue date.
