Dubai (UAE) Visa for American Citizens

Nonstop flights connect Dubai with New York, Chicago, San Francisco and a lengthening list of other American cities, and the trips at the end of them are mostly ordinary ones: a week in a hotel, a stopover stretched out on the way to India or East Africa, a few days at a conference. For nearly all of that, an American passport is enough by itself — entry is granted at the border, and both of the sources we check put the allowance at up to 90 days. So, plainly: for a two-week holiday you do not need us.

It is the trips that fall outside that shape which bring people to this page. A stay running past the on-arrival allowance — a sabbatical, a semester, a parent settling in for the winter to be near grandchildren. A trip that steps out of the UAE partway through and comes back, whether that is a few days in Oman or a cruise calling elsewhere along the Gulf before it returns to Dubai. And the dual national who will be checking in on their second passport rather than the American one. Three quite different situations, and only the last of them is a straightforward order for a visa.

Take that last one first, because it is the clear-cut one: where the passport you travel on does need a UAE visa, we arrange it the way we do for every nationality — the online form takes about ten minutes, a person on our team reads your passport page, your photograph and your dates by hand rather than handing them to a script, and the approved visa reaches you as a PDF by email two to four working days after submission. The middle case carries no obligation at all, though some travellers prefer to have a multiple-entry visa in hand before they set off, rather than leave the question of getting back in to be dealt with once they are already away.

That leaves the long stay, and it is the one thing this page cannot put a price on for you: longer-stay options are a separate service — send us your dates on WhatsApp and we will give you a straight answer on what is actually available. The same applies if you are already in Dubai and find you want to stay on past the day you had in mind — extensions are a separate service too. What we will not do, on either count, is sell you a visa for a trip that does not need one.
